A small lesson on how to determine if the garment fits?
In class I learned that they are 5 elements on discovering if the garment fit these are:
1) Grain
2) Set
3) Line
4) Balance
5) ease
These elements were originally identified by Erwin, Kinchen, and Peters in 1979.And I will explain in more details next.
So what is grain?... when cutting the fabric manufacturer will try to lowers cost by cutting the fabric off grain that means the garment will not hang straight. If the fabric is cut on grain the fabric will drape better and will hang evenly.
Next Set, this means that the garment doesn't produce any wrinkles undesirable. This is very easy to identify when trying the garment. If the garment seam to look small and you try another size and it still looks weird that means the garment does not fit because, when attaching the fabric they did not set the fabric on place.
Look for line, this refers to the alignment of the structural lines, you will be able to see some lines when trying the garment which is normal and it must happened.
Don't forget balance, this is a very easy element to identify, if the garment is not equilibrium they its not a good garment.
And lastly ease, the most important element some garments will have ease some will not, and this is mainly the amount of room in a garment. It is more favorable if the garment have some room that will allow you to do some movements.
So next time you go shopping try a garment and look for this elements!!

Do you know your dry cleaner?
After listening to an owners dry cleaner made me think more about this job is definitely not simple. Do you know that they have to actually now a lot of chemistry?.
Well is it true.. I learned that they have to know exactly what substance to use to remove stain, keep the color of the garment intact and there are more..
I have to accept I'm that type of person that do not realize between a good dry cleaner than a bad dry cleaner. But he gave a few tips that on how to choose a good dry cleaner:
1. to make you're life easier on choosing a good dry cleaner there is a website where you can do some research on which dry cleaner is the best on you town.. cool eh!.. http://www.americasbestcleaners.com/
2. you can test them by bringing a white shirt with a stain on it o=if they can't remove it then they are not using the right substances.
3. Lucky brand jeans are the best quality jeans out there!
4. Always read the care label. Make sure it says Dry clean only.
Make sure to visit the website and next time you bring a piece of clothe to the dry cleaner pay attention if they are actually doing a good job on removing a stain or keeping the color the same!

Color or Fit?...
Sometimes when we go shopping we are looking for a dress, shoes, handbags, makeup or a skirt perhaps... but truly which factor is the most important one?
I came to the conclusion that, we don't realize but when we go shopping we say "Im looking for a RED dress".. notice how we say the color before we say the actual garment that you are looking for. I think this is related on your mood that day or perhaps because you want to express something through that garments. For example red means passionate, romance, exciting. Colors have meanings and people do react to them differently.
So what's next?.. well after choosing the color we go ahead and try the garment and that is when fit comes, sometimes the garment will not fit well, but because we REALLY like the color, we may or may not purchase it. Some people really prefer fit over color some people won't even grab the garment if they think that it won't fit well...
So my question for you is which one do you think is the most important factor when it comes to shopping?

I am Yvette Sanchez and this is my life..
My life is surrounded by clothes, shoes, handbags and more shoes.Since I was 16 I decided that fashion was for me and keeps going, when I was in Florence, Italy that I was not only into arts but I was also into designers and the art of fashion. Since then I decided that i should make a career out of my passion for fashion. Now I am a senior at Baylor University studying Fashion Merchandising, and I was able to have an internship this past summer in London with Purple PR.
My internship at Purple PR taught me that I was on the right path, because I got to experience what the real world of fashion is. I did from steaming clothes, to dealing with clients, to put outfits together for a photoshoot for Roberto Cavalli and several others.
This is a snapshot of my life during the summer:
